This slice of cut and polished fossil Mammoth tooth is one of the most beautiful things in nature. It is completely natural and authentic with no restoration. The patterns of enamel and dentin are stunning and unique to each tooth and slice. Imagine holding the tooth of an extinct Mammoth in your hand that is at least 15,000 years old. When we first saw and held this tooth chills ran up our spine as we realized what we were holding. Both sides of the tooth slice have been preserved and polished to reveal the beauty of nature.
Mammoths roamed most of North America and most continents of e world and lived during the Pleistocene or Ice Age of about 10,000 to 1.5 MYA years ago. Mammoths were up to 15 feet tall at the shoulder and weighed 6-8 tons. They had great curved tusks up to 16 feet long. Some species of mammoths were covered with thick long hair. Several nearly complete frozen mammoths have been found in the ice and permafrost of Alaska and Siberia.
