Conchoraptor gracilis (Oviraptorid) In Situ Block of Specimens

Conchoraptor (meaning "conch plunderer") is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur from the late Cretaceous Period of what is now Asia. It was first discovered in 1971.

Conchoraptor was a small dinosaur, only 1–2 meters (3.3-6.6 feet) in length adapted to crushing mollusk shells. The skull of Conchoraptor was heavily pneumatised, (filled with air chambers) with most of the bones hollow. Internal connections between both ears functioned as resonance chambers and improved hearing.

This spectacular block of in situ bones contains multiple specimens and is 64 x 31 inches.

Age: Late Cretaceous, 76 MYA

Location: Mongolia

Formation: Red Beds of Khermeen Tsav
