Dracorex hogwartsia, dinosaur skull, Seen in December, 2007 National Geographic

PRESENTING the first replica available of Dracorex hogwartsia, named by paleontologists Bob Bakker and Victor Porter after the fictional "Hogwarts Academy" from the popular Harry Potter* books.

There are only two known Dracorex skulls. The first skull found is in the collections of the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. The profile cast offered here is based on a new discovery and contains the dentary and pre-dentary bones which were not present on the original skull.

This skull also contains the front teeth of Dracorex, and they reveal an exciting possibility. The incisors are serrated, perhaps the first evidence of an omnivorous dinosaur!

This replica is cast in solid resin and is made to hang on a wall or rest on a table. At your request, we will install a wall hanger at no additional charge.

Distribution:
Late Cretaceous of North America. About 66 million years ago.

Etymology:
From the Latin words draco (meaning dragon) + rex (meaning king), and hogwarts, the fictional school from the Harry Potter* book series.

Translation:
"Dragon King" of Hogwarts

Holotype:
TCMI 2004.17.1, nearly complete skull, one lower tooth, plus first, third, eighth and ninth cervical vertebra.
