The Predmosti Mammoth was found in the Czech Republic at an ancient village or settlement site near the town of Prerov. The site was excavated from 1884 to 1930, but the finds were lost during the 1939-1945 war period and then was re-excavated in the 1990s, with several burials found. The settlement is assessed as a Cro-Magnon site from between 24,000 and 27,000 years ago. The mammoth was carved from a piece of ivory tusk and is covered with fine lines representing the long hairy coating of a mammoth.
